The previous day, 43150 was on the rear of the ill-fated 1A85 11:01 Penzance to Paddington which had failed to the east of Pewsey with a fractured air pipe. The train remained stationary for nearly six hours, before the rear powercar 43150 was uncoupled and left behind. 59205 dragged 43150 back to Westbury last that evening, to be collected by 57605. 57602 on a loaded test run heads east through Totnes on: 5Z77 10:05 Laira to Laira via Newton Abbot. Upon arrival at Newton Abbot, the train reversed and the HST hauled the Class 57 back to Laira. the formation of the train was: 57602 + 43091 + 44034 42277 42276 42098 42275 40703 41134 41133 + 43191. Freshly out shopped from Laira after a major overhaul, 43012 in pristine condition hauls Mk2 6330 and 57603 westbound through Totnes on a 5Z77 Laira to Laira via Newton Abbot test run. 43012 was one of the last Valenta powercars to be overhauled by Laira as the new MTU power units were entering traffic.
